    That is incredibly dangerous for the snake. You should NEVER leave a live rodent in with a snake unattended. That hamster is going to scratch/gnaw on/otherwise hurt the snake. Google snake injuries from rodents. Plus, this isn't unusual. The snake doesn't like hamsters. It regularly eats mice.
     It will wait for a mouse. My ball pythons do the same thing.... they won't eat when they aren't hungry, so the rat curls up with them. This happens all the time with snake keepers.
